It came with the screws, but I didn't have to use them because it was so secure without.

Yes it has the option of a permanent mount. But I don't know why you would want to? It stays in place extremely well as long as you have it perfectly level on all sides. Our toddler is always pulling & tugging on it & it doesn't budge! You just never know when you might sell your house & then you have holes in your frame work!

No, you do not have to use the extensions at all! I love this gate and I'm sure you will too.

No you don't have to use either of the extentions. But the smallest that this gate will fit is between 27 to 28 inches. Hope this helps.

no you dont need to use the extensions if you do not need them. there are adjusters to secure gate in place

You do not have to use the extenders. I needed to use only one of them for my door. The gate sets up without the extenders, with one extender, or with both extenders. Works very well too.

Gate itself is about 24"(w/o extensions) - may not fit your space (need at least 25 inch space for gate to fit w/o extensions).

Do you have to use the 2 included extensions?

It opens like an accordion, kind of. There is a bar on the top that you twist to tighten so that it doesn't keep moving. It's pretty sturdy. I really like the product.

There is a latch on top that you slide with your thumb & then you just pull up on the gate & open it. It does take a little getting used to that part. But I highly recommend this gate! I absolutely love it! Very sturdy & I am going in & out of it 10+ times a day ;-) Worth every penny!

simply pick up on gate and it will swing either way

The gate is opened with a "lift straight up" motion. Some people have a little trouble with the concept until they are shown how but it is actually easy to use for an adult.

you use your thumb and slide a little button, pull up on the gate and open. You can do it all one handed.

your supposed to push down and and across to open it.
we have found it easier to just lift the gate up anywhere, and swing it across.

There's a latch at the top. Easy to open. Swings shut by itself. Very happy with it.
